Six In-House SEO Plans for eCommerce Online Store

Today I read an article by James Gurd from LinkedIn's eCommerce Managers/Directors forum 2010 and learned something worth to follow.

Here is the list of six in-house things to improve any online store's SEO.
  1. Set up Webmaster Tools check

  2. Develop a content strategy sort of, still in progress

  3. Carry out keyword research check

  4. Optimize your meta and page content check

  5. Generate sitemaps check

  6. Start a link building program not yet

I have been thinking of the linking program for a while, though don't know where to start with. The link:www.mysite.com in the search engine is something I think might be important to audit our competitors' external links and pick out some relevant targets.

Reach out to customers

The first problem is how to reach out to the potential customers. The problem is that our newsite didn't have any exposure to the internet yet. After some research, we decided to put it on froogle first. It is now Google Products. There are several ways to list the items on Google Products. You can list one at a time which is too time consuming for us. You can also do a bulk upload using a csv file. However, after going through the creation of our KingSource Yahoo Store. I have been a little bit tired of working on the files. Surprisely, we found that Google provides a Store Connector which can automatically upload items from our Yahoo Store. Thanks to Google. We were able to list our first 400+ items to Google Products with a few mouse clicks.
